Dance websites, dance!

It’s been a few days since I posted, and the reason is because I’ve been holed up in my workshop making toys.  By workshop I mean my computer and by toys I mean websites.  Just like Geppetto in Pinocchio, I thoroughly enjoy the websites that I made (however imperfect) and I hope that one day they become real.

The toys are as follows:

A buggy Bitly-like url shortener called Bitly Redux

A simple blog that I built from scratch, with the ability to add and filter by tags.

Next, my team built a jeopardy flash-card app that has over 60,000 questions in the database and can track your stats.  It’s lenient on the answers (if you type in 50% of the characters right, it’ll be right).  There’s also an answer that always works if you’re stuck on a question :)  We also say “What is” on your behalf.

And lastly, today my pair and I built a game that tries to mimic the Hare and Tortoise story.  Try it out with someone else on the same computer (or just play yourself…).  I hope it will be as frustrating for you as it was for us when figuring out the AJAX.

When I’m as old as Gippetto, I hope I still find as much joy building and playing with toys as I do today.
